Red light therapy for hair loss is the alternative treatments that have proven to be highly effective by thousands of clinic trials. Red Light Therapy is an all LED light solution that evenly bathes the scalp in precise wavelengths of light to boost the revival and regeneration of new hair follicles. The doctors in Beijing Hospital did the clinic trial to define the safety and physiologic effects of Red light therapy on males alopecia or seborrheic areata with androgenic alopecia.
Alopecia areata
Also known as cicatricial alopecia, it often occurs suddenly, with round or oval hair loss spots on the scalp, without any symptoms, and most patients find it unintentionally. The onset is divided into three phases: the progressive phase, the quiescent phase and the recovery phase. The number of hair loss varies, and the scalp in the hair loss area is normal without redness, scaly, and scars. The hair at the edge of the hair loss area in the static period is no longer loose, and no new hair loss spots appear. Most patients enter the recovery period after a quiescent period of 3 to 4 months. During the recovery period, new hairs will grow out. Initially, they are soft and light-colored hairs, similar to vellus hairs, which gradually become thicker and darker over time, and then return to normal. There are also severe cases where large areas of hair loss merge into total baldness, and even all eyebrows and beards fall off, which is called general baldness. Its pathogenesis is not yet clear, and it is more likely to be an immune disease.
Alopecia areata can be treated with hormones, thymosin, anthralin ointment, etc. At the same time, patients should maintain a good mood and get enough sleep.
Seborrheic alopecia
The etiology is related to heredity. Androgenic cord and seborrhea. The patient manifests as excessive secretion of oil on the scalp, and the hair feels greasy. If it is not washed for a few days, it will give off a foul smell. Scalp itching is the main symptom. Excessive sebum secretion oppresses and blocks the hair follicles, and the oleic acid and linoleic acid secreted by it have toxic effects on the hair follicles, leading to hair poisoning and wilting. Seborrheic alopecia mostly occurs in the strong secretion of sebaceous glands. The young and middle-aged, gradually developed into "balding".
Seborrheic alopecia should pay attention to hair care and diet such as vitamin B. Use less irritating shampoo and so on.
Red light therapy
10 Beijing Hospital Jin Zuyu and others have reported that 32 patients with alopecia areata were irradiated with red light therapy device for 20 minutes each time, 2 times a week, 10 times as a course of treatment.
Treatment efficacy standards and results: After the hair loss area is irradiated with red light therapy for 1 to 2 courses, the hair growth of more than 50% is effective, 26 of the 32 cases, accounting for 81.2%; the hair loss area is irradiated with less than 50% or no hair growth The change was invalid. There were 5 cases, accounting for 15.6%; 2 cases had less than one course of treatment, and the irradiation stopped spontaneously due to local itching, accounting for 3.2%.
Lian Shi of Beijing Xuanwu Hospital also reported a typical case: Xu, male, 30 years old, a policeman from Guangxi police station, a year ago due to work stress and psychological factors, caused incomplete hair loss, using "101" hair essence and oral other hair growth The drugs are all ineffective. After applying externally applied anthracene ointment by our department, apply red light therapy once a day for 20 minutes each time. After the 10th irradiation, new black vellus hair will appear, which grows concentrically from the outer edge of alopecia areata, and irradiate 5-10 times. The back vellus hair grows into hair, which is sparse and 15-20cm long.
